NÓWNØIS RECONSTRUCTED

the remix compilation vol. 1

songs taken apart and rebuilt elsewhere. nównøis reconstructed collects remixes from artists across the UK, Germany and Switzerland, each reshaping the nównøis world through their own sound.

not long ago, i was quietly wishing someone would remix my music — and then, somehow, 2025–2026 became full of these unexpected versions from different places, scenes and sonic worlds. this compilation is my way of saying thank you: giving each remix its own space, and celebrating every artist who felt inspired enough by the nównøis universe to reshape it into something new. some reconstructed versions have already been living on certain platforms and you might have heard them already, while others come fresh from the artists' home studios.

this digital compilation is exclusively available on bandcamp, subvert and here on my website – for now. keep your ears on streaming platforms too, as the reimagined versions will also be released song by song, alongside other nównøis releases.

you can also show your love for the remixers and artists involved by checking out their own sections below. <3

much love, nównøis

after gaining some experience as a keyboarder and guitarist in local bands, raja released his first self-produced jazz-rock CD in 1992. he worked as a sound engineer for theatre, radio, and television, produced film scores, and wrote for music magazines. he introduced young people to the world of music production through workshops and embraced all kinds of musical styles. raja is a versatile remixer, and his productions can be found on countless websites.

raja emailed me his reimagined tracks completely out of nowhere, after seeing me live at Sommerwerft Festival in Frankfurt in 2025, and i could not have imagined a more beautiful surprise.

nównøis - rain falling (fectoper remix)

"Framed by the imagery of Antarctica's Taylor Glacier, the Emperor penguin, and the M80 globular cluster of stars, fectoper creates immersive works shaped by time, endurance, and the persistence of life in seemingly inhospitable environments. Drawing from ambient, drone, noise, post-classical, gothic, and industrial traditions, the project combines field recordings, electronic manipulation, and acoustic elements into slowly evolving sonic environments. Themes of memory, nature, ritual, mortality, transcendence, and occasional subtle humour recur throughout a body of work that values exploration and attentive listening over genre conventions. Literary references, environmental sounds, and compositional experiments invite listeners to construct their own stories and emotional landscapes. Collaboration is an integral part of the project, approached as a genuine exchange within communities of experimental artists rather than as a feature or endorsement. Deliberately sparse in biographical detail, fectoper allows the work itself to define the project, placing sound, imagery, and atmosphere at the centre of the listener's experience."

i wanted to quote this, as it's the most accurate intro for the remix too. a cinematic trip straight into the rain.

nównøis - distance (brian makes noise remix)

nównøis - for tomorrow (brian makes noise remix)

nównøis - floating (brian makes noise remix)

Brian Makes Noise is a UK-based sound artist creating generative, spatial audio installations. working with synthesised tones and simple rule-based systems, he explores repetition, suspended time, and quiet transformation. Alongside his installation practice, he is an active remixer, reinterpreting tracks through a lens of moody Future Garage. by submerging source material in found sound and atmospheric drones, then anchoring them with sharp, driving grooves, his work builds immersive environments that invite both quiet contemplation and movement.

Brian and i met through London's EMOM community and released two official remixes already (for tomorrow, floating), and now a brand new reimagined version of "distance" is here too.

Ssick - don't touch my darkness (bring your own) feat. nównøis

Ssick is a South Wales-based electronic / rock hybrid project, delivering raw, emotive live shows with beats, vocals, textured guitars and modular synths. Rooted in a post-punk aesthetic, the sound combines catchy rhythms with noise and melody, balancing intensity with accessibility.

this is the first reconstructed nównøis track where the remixer added vocals too — a special extra layer of darkness. song taken from EP2.

the mirror station_untrue_v1.png
The Mirror Station - untrue reconstructed feat. nównøis, the subtheory

The Mirror Station is the electronic music concept of Jon Aldersea, born from the creative evolution of his previous electronic project, Dreams of Delvaux. combining cinematic electronics, ambient textures, synth-pop influences and experimental sound design, Jon's work explores the connection between music, atmosphere and visual storytelling.

alongside his work as a composer, producer and remixer, Jon has enjoyed a long career in creative media, producing acclaimed music videos, motion graphics and visual content for artists and creative projects. his work includes directing and co-producing video content for Altern 8's international Top 3 hit "Activ-8 (Come With Me)" for the iconic rave label Network Records.

as a remixer, Jon approaches each project as a creative re-composition, respecting the emotional core of the original while transforming it through his own cinematic electronic language.

i was excited to hear
The Mirror Station's reimagined version of Untrue, the song i collaborated with UK trip-hop band The Subtheory on back in 2024. this remix/re-composition features live bass and EBow guitar contributions from David McKechnie of The Mirror Station, adding an organic dimension to the layered electronic soundscape.

nównøis - rain falling (mho remix)

i remember sitting on the train to Stansted airport and listening to this drum'n'bass remix of one of my most emotional songs (it's a tough competition though), and jumping up and down in my seat like a teenager. like the one i used to be. then the train broke down, and i missed my flight, which meant cancelling my big comeback gig in Budapest.

i still felt like there was a big win that day. might have been even more than one.

this reimagined version is by mho, the sunshine of our grassroots electronic scene. touching my darkness must have been a real challenge for someone so positive and always happy — a lovely friend and massive supporter of not just me, but many artists i know from the EMOM scene.

"mho: wearer of paint-splashed attire, producer of lovely deep melodies and spiritual soundscapes"

i insist you check out his music elsewhere too.

another blooming collaboration planted at EMOM nights. Gashnois and i released this remix in 2025, and he was one of the first producers who gave me the idea of this compilation album.

Gashnois (pronounced “Gash Noise”)—pioneer of throbcore (Play Loud EPs), poet-collaborator (Leonor and Gashnois, Stalking Corpses), remixer (Nównøis – Floating), and mischievous noise-maker (Sonatas for Trashed Vinyl); Moonlights as DJ Wafflemester, co-presenter on ttns.uk radio - archive at mixcloud.com/wafflemeister

nównøis - rain falling (480billion remix)

already living its own life in the digital world, 480billion's sick remix of "rain falling" (taken from EP1 • verses) is the musical print of a very special mind. i met 480 billion aka. Gabriel in Frankfurt where i happened to play an EMOM set right after my Sommerwerft Festival performance last summer. he was at the desk, playing music i had never heard before, singing strange German thoughts. i'm sure you're not surprised reading this: nothing excites me more than something i've never heard before. "beautiful meaningful chaos" – this is my own description of 480billion

and in his own words:
480billion is a multimedia project established 2008 based in Frankfurt. the name might be related to the 2008 financial crisis.

proving this, 480billion also made a video for his remix. check it out below.

nównøis - like a river (no/w/herer remix)

"this remix flows between brooding trip-hop, experimental electronica, and atmospheric tension, blending textured beats with the raw emotional undercurrent of the original. heavy with mood and layered with vulnerability, the remix deepens the track’s exploration of surrender, movement, and self-transformation. alongside the release, a music video – created and directed by No/W/Herer — visualises the river as a force of inevitability, pulling the artist out of stillness and into the unknown", as our short press release said back in 2025 but feels like a decade ago. so much has happened since we shot the footage in our corridor – Riccardo Rizzo aka. no/w/herer, Pav Pav and me.

and i remember almost crying when i first listened to the song and watched the video. not just because Rick is a good friend of ours, but because i gave up on finding someone whose musical and visual instincts come this close to what i would imagine myself, if i could think in that much detail.

nównøis - like a river (the third mind remix)

the first official nównøis remix ever. when i heard it for the first time, i was like, "this is embarrassing: this version might actually be much better than the original." well, it can happen if someone with 25 years of experience in composing music touches the song you wrote then produced with 2 years' experience. the third mind's version of like a river even inspired Pav Pav to make a cutting-edge video for it, which then later received a silver selection screening opportunity at the Berlin Music Video Awards in 2025. the song is about keeping on going, just like the way a river flows: no matter what, and in one direction, towards one goal. maybe that's why it has inspired so many artists. it might be hard to imagine how much we sacrifice to make art. but we can't do better than to channel what wants to come out.

and the third mind in Switzerland channeled this remix of like a river
